Interested in playing?? Find more info here (FAQ)

Are you interested in playing baseball this summer but have some questions about our league?? You've come to the right place.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the VBC?

The Virginia Baseball Congress is a men’s 25+ wood bat baseball league based in Central VA. Our games are played at local Chesterfield and Henrico high school and county fields. The VBC is well established in the area and is celebrating its 30th anniversary in the 2019 season.

What are the age requirements for the VBC?

All players must be 25 or older. You must turn 25 during the calendar year of the season. For 2019, you must be 25 by December 31st, 2019.

What is the skill level of the VBC?

Almost every player played at least high school baseball, about 40% played some level of college baseball, and 5-10% played pro ball. Ages range from 25-60 with most players between 28-42. Most pitching is in the 70s. There are usually a handful of pitchers who reach the mid to upper 80s.

When does the season start? How many games do you play? When does it end?

Opening day is April 7th at Manchester High School

We play 20 regular season games. Double elimination playoffs begin in late July and last for two weeks.

There are games every Sunday at 1pm (except for holidays). Starting in early June, teams also play one weeknight game (Tues, Wed, or Thurs at 7pm).

How much does it cost to play?

Each team is responsible for paying dues to the league, so each manager sets their own player fees. These fees typically range from $230-$280. New players should also factor in the cost of buying wood bats.

When is the deadline to sign up?

New players are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, but sign up by March 16th to be including in the league-wide tryout and draft.

There will be an open tryout for all registered, new players on Sunday, March 17th from 2:30pm - 4:30pm at Thomas Jefferson High School; 4100 W. Grace Street, Richmond, VA.

Those new players will be drafted to a team and notified by their coach later that week.
